Idiomatic expressions are a very important step to learn english. This expressions, usually, are formed by more than one word, what togheter have a meaning, different of the meaning of each one separeted. Some examples: to take a trip - fazer uma viagem just in case - para/no caso de and so on - e assim por diante now and then - de vez em quando do you mind? - você se importa? to take a nap - tirar uma soneca to take a shower - tomar banho it's up to you - depende de você it's over - acabou, terminou at least - ao menos, pelo menos by the way - aliás let me see - deixe me ver up to date - em dia, atualizado Enjoy english!

There are a lot of presentations, about all the subjects you can imagine - okay, maybe, not all, but there is a lot of different things to choose) that's it! I hope you keep enjoyng english! Cheers.

A good way to practice your listen, is to watch a movie what you already know the history, without the subtitles. Today, I'm watching "Holiday", and this movie is great to notice the diferences between the american and the brit way to speak.. I prefer the brit way... to me, sounds more clear. And this movie is so cute! I love it!

And, we know, nowadays, is very easy write a text with helping from internet, now, for example, I'm with google translator open in another page, but, to be honest, I try hard not use the translator. I believe impoving my english, by myself is a hard job, but, i'm trying and trying. So in this blog, I'm testing my freestyle english. Without dictionaries, or any kind of help. Except when I'm writing about grammar. (about grammar, I'll always write based in some grammar book, so, you can trust in my grammar, besides I have said this is not my strong point.) But, if you are trying to write, and you still haven't vocabulary enough, or, you don't feel sure about what you are writing, there's no problem in using the translator, or the dictionary. And, to start, let's talk about " Present Continuous ". The present continous is used when you are doing something, the action is in the midle, examples: - Please don't make so much noise. I'm working . - Where's Margaret? She is having a bath. (not 'she has a bath') - Let's go out now. Isn't raining anymore. (not 'it doesn't rain') - (at a party) Hello Jane. Are you enjoying the party. (not 'do you enjoy') But the action is not necessarily happening at the time of speaking. Example: - Catherine wants to work in Italy. She is learning italian. We use present continuous when we talk about things happening in a period around now (today, this week, this evening, etc), example: - You are working hard today. (not 'you work hard') - Is John ...

Fernanda is my old sister. When I born she was 1 and a half years old... We grown up together, and when we were childs, we didn't get along... Fernanda was very evil! Yes, she was! I remember one time when I locked myself at bathroom, because she was trying to hit me! I don't remeber why, probably for nothing... Well, now I'm taller than she, so, she doesn't try to hit anymore. Fernanda felt in love by one friend of mine, André. One day, we were in a bar, and she was a little drunk, suddently, she looked at me and said: "I like you, I don't want to fight with you anymore, let's be friends" I agreed, of course. And then, since when, we didn't had any big fight... So, the fault about the fights when we were childs, is her.

I think the best way to learn a new language, is like the way we learn our native language. I studied english, for about two years at "Wisdom"... and to me, couldn't had better school. Because the classes were just talking, all the time... The teacher (almost) never used the blackboard.. Most of what I know, I learned on this way. So, I was thinking about, and I could say I'm like a 6 years old speaker. My biggest difficult is about grammar... verbs and all that things about past perfect, past continous, etc. Sometimes, I'm pretty sure what is correct in a sentence, but I have no idea why or what is. So, now, I'm having a bad time to try learn all this things, and believe me, this is not easy. Enjoy english!

Today I have a test... I'm studing english, in my lunch time, here in my job. There's a course for students, and, this year they allowed employers too.. This course has 6 levels, from beggining until intermediate. I'm in intermediate, in the last level. Well, I didn't studied to my test... But I'm sure I'll be okay.

Heey! I would like to start, telling how we had this idea. I'm a english student for a long years... and, this has been a really hardy way until the end... By the way, I'm still in the middle of the way... Fernanda, my sister, studied english for a couple of months, and couldn't study anymore (because she lost his job, and married, and move out far away). But, she is a very smart young lady, and she learn a lot just because she isn't shy to try (at all). So, sometimes, we chat by e-mail in english. Nowaday, I'm a little obsessed by blogs, so, I had a idea to start to write a blog just in english. I think this will be very good, to us, to notice how we are improving our skills. I know we still have a loooot to learn. But, helping each other, this become easiest, right?! I have saved some chats betwen me and Fê, and soon I'll post them. Enjoy english!
